The EMPHASize Project: developing, implementing, and evaluating online curriculum modules for health professions' programs to address gaps in eating disorder education

Stewart, S., Haji Nia, N., Pham, S., Kayibadi, J., et al.

This paper presents findings from the EMPHASize Project, an initiative to address the critical gap in eating disorder education across health profession programs. Despite eating disorders carrying one of the highest mortality rates among psychological disorders, most health-related curricula include limited or no content on weight bias, disordered eating presentations, or the role of movement in recovery. Seven evidence-based online learning modules were developed to equip current and future healthcare professionals with discipline-specific knowledge on these issues. This manuscript examines both quantitative and qualitative data collected from healthcare professionals and health and general students who engaged with the modules, evaluating their effectiveness as a teaching and learning tool for integrating this essential content into health programs and continuing education.
